In 1945. a team led by Professor Richard Langford, succeeded in getting the Stargate to work and a young professor, Ernest Littlefield, actually traveled through the wormhole, never to return.

Daniel Jackson shares this information with Catherine Langford, professor Langford’s daughter, who oversaw the Stargate project for years and who was supposed to marry Littlefield before he disappeared. Using computer-enhanced pictures as a guide, the SG-1 team, joined by Langford, goes in search of Littlefield. They find the professor, as well as a remarkable room a repository of knowledge that seems to have been the meeting place of four alien civilizations. The alien device uses a 3D representation of the periodic table as a universal language among 4 distinct races and acts as a "Rosetta Stone" for a galactic "United Nations" which may explain the origin of the stargate system.

It is in this sprit of exploration, that this guild is formed to explore (and to occasionally exploit for it's own benefit ) the worlds of “Stargate Worlds”.
