After spending a short while looking at this place I think maybe it will be as good as any to setup and wait for the next big thing to happen. I have a few gate addresses memorized and I should be able to eventually get back here without much drama or singed clothing. I stand by the gate dialing device and press the symbols and lean on the center. The familiar metallic whir gives way to the liquid swoosh and the gate activates. I have learned to be ready for anything when passing through even familiar gates. I'm sure the fellows that tired to follow me though this gate a week or so ago are still around somewhere. OK one last quick inventory. I feel for the bulge of my zat under my right arm inside my tunic. A smallish bag of crystals and coins on my belt, a small electro-tablet nestled in the side pocket. My hair and face are as presentable as I could make them given the circumstances. I smile and step forward up the platform towards the event horizon. A strand of hair falls loose from my braided hair and brushes my cheek as I start to step through ... I pause partway and look over my shoulder and say aloud to anyone listening .. "I'll be back soon, just have to get a few things" As I disappear into the fluid surface of the event horizon the slurping sound of the gate closing fills the room.
