In a recent interview with Sean Dugan he was asked about leveling/size of worlds and stated:

Sean: Players can expect to level cap at 200 to 250 hours of gameplay. The time they spend on worlds will vary considerably – depending on the levels we’re talking about, some of our worlds are simply big while others fall into the category of “gigantinormous”

hehe, "giantinormous" sounds good to me. I'm a fan of larger areas where you can explore, set up ambushes if your pvping, and just enjoy the game without being in a small crowded area with npc's and players. So hearing that statement put some concerns at rest for me personally.

hey stav you seem to follow the dev talks pretty well i have a question. they where talking about doing mini games for archeologist to "decipher" languages did you see anywhere that it just gave you the full answer or like you would get letters. i know a game used to do that but i cant remember what it was maybe a FF title but not sure.

for example you have say 100 words of alien text and you do a minigame and you say ok thats what that "letter" symbol" whatsit stands for and you keep playing until you get the whole text in your language or its just one minigame per "what ever you trying to decipher"? Ä=A É=C æ=T so É Å æ spells cat i kinda hope its the learn it abit at a time make it feel more real since people dont just learn the entire language at once but learn the alphabet and work from there.

They really haven't gone into real in-depth detail about much of the game. The portion of a interview that Sean Dugan talked a bit about achaeologist I'm going to copy and paste right here.

----Sean: Well, for a while we discussed requiring players to be able to read Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs but some nay-sayers thought it was too high a bar to ask everyone to learn a dead language to play our game. Instead, we’ve given Archeologist players the ability to play mini-games to translate and decipher alien languages which will allow them to read texts and use certain artifacts. Our intention is make sure the game delivers that feeling of the Archeologist being an expert linguist and make sure that it is meaningful in game. We want to re-create that great feeling where you have a scientist and an archeologist trying to decipher some incomprehensible alien whatzzit while a soldier and Jaffa warrior hold off hordes of ferocious enemies. ------

Thats about the longest answer or most in-depth answer to what acheologists will do that I've been able to find. It seems it will be not as hard as you'd like it to be so that more people can pick it up without much effort. I like things being an effort over being easy but most MMO's don't go that route anymore to keep people from getting fustrated. But it still sounds fun from the small bit of information thats been released. Oh yeah and the game that I think your talking about is FF10. I forget the tribes name, but you get rescued by that ship early in the game when you get swallowed by Sin and they speak a language thats just gibberish. Even the subtitles don't tell you what they are saying, so you end up having to find hidden loot translation pieces and slowly the subtitles start translating what it says letter by letter. I think thats the game you mean. It was a interesting aspect to the game for sure.

In all their interviews they make references to WoW often so if each world is equivalent to a continent in WoW I can't wait to see how HUGE the biggies get!!!

haha yeah your right the boat part was the only part i could remember. yeah i read that interview also but i can only hope i dont see it as any harder maybe abit more time consuming i guess depends on how hard the game itself is and its probably not "easy" so i see what you meen about keep it difficult but not have people do it a bunch of times to figure out one set of text. cant all get what we want i guess

thanks for the reply.

Hopefully, in those gigantinormous areas we'll find some badass notorious monster/boss to fight w/ ur guild mates (and get some nice gear/weapon drops ) hiding in the worst dangerous parts of these mazes. I wish we'll have that boss system for godly gear, thats something i loved in RPGs.

That is good to hear. The size of the planet was a bit of a concern for me. Small, big, medium, it was all scepulation. Where exactly does Gigantenormus fall? Like hugeley, 3-4 hour trip world wide on foot travel or what?

I would like to see larger worlds to travel and explore in. For instance, like the worlds of the xbox 360 version of Oblivion.
