somehow i doubt the rite of malkshuor *spelling* would translate that well into a game though.

I don't belive that particular rite is a requirement seeing as his son got deprogramed with only a good Zat blast. (I recall they compaired it to shock therapy). Not saying that mind control is the way to go....but something out of the way should required so we don't have jaffa jumping from side to side all over the place.

Whole heartedly agree I can see it now...Jaffa changing colors on the mini map like lights on a Christmas tree. red blue red blue red blue. It definitely needs to be a serious commitment maybe a timer on it like 30 days or something on top of a quest line would be nice.

maybe it will be quests to convert npcs like if your evil you have to force them into believing your a god, or if your good make them realize who the goaulds really are.

Yes, the Zat did work on Rey'ac but..... (there is always a "but" isnt there?) They tried that on teal'c and it didnt work. Probably because Rey'ac was still young (even by human standards), whereas Teal'c was well over a hundred years old, and very highly trained, (lets face it, he is the most badass Jaffa ever) so a simple little thing like a zat would not be able to phase him like that. I dont think ppl who play jaffa would want their characters to be as weak as a very young and untrained jaffa.

Bottom-line: The rite of Malk'shour sounds like a good idea. they could probably use the hallucinations that the jaffa go through during the rite as a quest. and make it to where you have to choose your path.

I'd like to see the option as a J'affa to convert. Or even as a human, a human in the service of a Go'auld has just as much reason to switch sides as a J'affa. I'd say just make it the reward of a complex quest chain. I wouldn't say to put a limit on how often you can do it, just make it complex enough so that people won't want to keep doing it. Also if there is a reputation or status level in place with factions like the SG-C it could reset each time you convert so you'd have to build up your trust with that group, again making it so players won't just keep swapping over. Eeverquest 1 and 2 had a similar system in place to switch factions or capitol cities and it was a pain in the ass enough system to keep it balanced. It was a serious decision by a player to switch sides and was rarely repeatedly done.

Interesting, but that would mean Goa'uld would control Jaffas, and even tho thats the way things are in the series, both Goa'uld and Jaffas are playable characters, so i doubt one player would control another. I think it will only comes down to Loyal Jaffa and Goa'uld fighting aside. I might be wrong, maybe Jaffas that will stay around the same Goa'uld for a while will gain some bonus... if so tho, they would have to restrict the number of gamer playing Goa'uld. What would happen if they had 1000 playing Goa'uld and 100 Jaffa.
In the end, i think Jaffa and Goa'uld will be 2 different race to play with their advantages and their minus.

Don't ask yourself how much pain the System Lords can give you, ask yourself how much you can handle before kneeling to your true and powerfull God.

I believe that player Jaffa should be allowed to switch sides at least once, even possibly to the SGC, like Teal'c. That would make for an interesting story device. As for NPC Jaffa, I think a substance like The Blood of Sokar should be put into the game for Goa'uld, allowing the conversion of enemy troops on the fly. Taslo's christmas tree minimap might not be too farfetched if someone had that... lol
