I do have a big fear, in Star Wars Galaxies there was The Jedi grind. Anyone think there might be an Ascension grind in the game?
Made the game stale. Half the guild I was in was only grinding to be a Jedi and let everything else go, made the Guild fall to Crap. Now I guess you can pick to play a jedi from the go. Made getting Force sensitive the hard way feel like less of a reward.
Anyways thats a different game and universe. I just do not want something like that to happen here. AND if someone does reach Ascension I hope its not easy or as powerful as everyone would want. Remember the Ascended ones are bastards, Gave Daniel a bunch of shit. Just would be lame if there where a shit load of Ascended PCs around. UNLESS it was done correctly wich I have no no idea how it could be.

I agree YYZ. SWG had its issues... but to date, it still has the BEST set up for Roleplay, character customization, housing, decor and so on. The NGE, the Jedi grind, the 'trying to be what it is not' and the dumbing down on the game (aka make it more WoW-ish) is what really hurt it.
If they had retained the original vision of the game at launch and simply improved on that... would have been much better, IMHO. Keep the Battlegrounds (aka 'You have entered a contested area. You must claim a side before continuing... Rebel or Imperial)... I still recall the rush of "oh crap" when I was a n00b and wandered across that 'line' on Tatoonie.. hehe
Keep the rarity of Jedi... I still remember the OMG coolness of seeing my first Jedi wailing on NPC's on Dathomir spaceport...
Keep true to the Star Wars genre... they should have (after the Jedi became sooo popular) had NPC's that would hunt the 'flagrant' Jedi- per the lore, sent out by Vader... so that the existing Jedi really DID have to remain hidden to survive and Luke and Obi-Wan really WERE the 'last hope' for the galaxy...
SWG wasn't a crappy game... it just wasn't allowed to live up to its potential because the loudest yellers wanted KOTOR Online... NOT what the game was originally created to be.
IMHO.

I Miss SWG, Had a lot of fun in an RPG guild with a large amount of members and everything. Loved the housing and the unique items. Everyones place was able to be known as thiers, everyones place could be different. On the inside at least. When I was Force sensitive I was afraid to come out of my house. If I didnt want to grind resources I could go out for a flight and shoot down enimies. I Loved the Xwing Vs. Tie Fighter feel that was added. There is so much Stargate can learn from and play off of.
Im Looking forward to SGW, I hope its a good game.

Me too.
I'm so awaiting the game that looks objectively at all the 'main' games out there and take the best of all of them... not try to 'clone' them.. but see the good and the bad and make an MMO that maximizes the good and tries to avoid the mistakes of the past.
*wonders if that was clear... kinda sleepy and my mind is rather 'meh'*

Very clear indeed kyatai!!
Back to the question at hand I could defiantly see Ascension being in game but not as an option or achievement that a player could get. But Ascended life forms giving mission or added as some type of story line to the game.

here's hoping that they do put in an ascension grind. It would improve the story line quite a bit and give us something to llok forward to, say if we maxed leveled, maybe you ascend. I don't know, I think it would be pretty awesome.

Would be cool, but if they do, they need to be careful it doenst become boring and cumbersome and distracting from the flow of leveling... etc.
I'm always a fan of earning your stripes, but sometimes too much grind can really turn people off. Just ask WoW players and the never ending anger at low percentages for quest drops of mobs.

But i also agree, Ascension should not be attainable... they'd be OP for the most part, I'm sure and if everyone ascends, what's the point?
I think it would be cool to be able to earn Military Rank outside of a PvP type scenario. Just upgrading a title alone would be incentive for me. But I hate PvP with a passion. I want to participate in the story... if I want PvP, I'd play Halo.

SGW Guilds
Build a Guild
A Guild is just an organized group of gamers with a common theme or mission. Guilds should have a Banner Logo (128px) and can be joined three ways...Open (Anyone), Approval (Anyone can apply), Invite (Private Invitation). The benefits to joining or creating your own Guild is proven mmo strategies and better friendships. An organized team with assigned roles is a force to be reckoned with. Read through the different Guild mission statements and if none appeal to your taste create your own Guild. Each Guild group can create bulletins and group emails that will help keep you in sync. Plus you may add your Guild comrades to your profile Connections for a simple buddy list.
Notes: Take a second to read the Guild Policies posted here. Have fun!
