So in one of the interviews they mentioned Instances. What can we expect? I'm thinking that there should be some based on some of SG-1's greatest trials on missions like Thor's hammer, some sort of Labyrinth in which you're final boss is one buffed up Unas. Ya that's the only one I could think of through my anger haze, btw if you're ever a manager working alongside another manager always ALWAYS get their input before just making a decision that effects not only the both of you but your subordinates as well.

Definately like the Thor's Hammer, Goa'uld Unas instance... Good call.

Perhaps an instance which involves stalking through a goa'uld base or mothership, searching for a case of weapons.. or raw materials.. Take on a first prime at some lackies at the end.???

I believe in instances and a story line mission that goes with it. I am sure they will have good content on both sides. As far as 2 managers? That is 1 toooooo many roosters in the hen house... Simply put 1 chief and more indians....

I’m not too worried about the story line with SGW, and I’m fairly sure they will do a good job. For myself I like to have both, open and instance areas. If it’s a well designed area, you can have a good group mission going on at the same time a solo hunt for that Easter egg to.

Total agree with you. I can see some very fun and immersive story driven quests with instances added in. Some Goa'uld bosses and Ori' to take on at the end of a instance, maybe even some that we know from the show. I can definitely see us taking on Ba'al, won't hurt canon at all since it could be a clone in hiding. Almost can't wait for an expansion already just so we can get some Wraith action(expansion is supposed to be atlantis based). Will be something to look forward to though, as if we didn't have enough already. But I think the combat system that they are implementing is going to make these instances different than anything we've experienced yet. Be more tactical and group coordination oriented. Probably much larger maneuver room than the typical MMO instance as well.

I think your spot on…I played Tabula Rasa for a short time after beta, and the one thing it does have going for it the kind of system your describing. On the short side though, the instance area they do have are huge and will have four or five linked missions just to complete the unrelated mission your there to finish….So. No group no finish to your lower level mission, and that my friends totally SUCKS!….If you’ve been there you will know what I mean… I believe I broke 2 or 3 keyboards just out of frustration before I canceled….lol

OH, as an aside….Here is a link from one of the other forums I think all would be interested in if you plan on being a big fan of the game. Please take a moment and read it…J

ok instances are good but tend to be lvl ranged in mmog's have played a few that are scaleable to your lvl and gear and give better rewards as a bonus i liked this only because you can always play that favourite instance and still have a bit of a challenge

I want to see as a training mission the scenario that O'neill built for those cadets. Could be a great intro to SGW.

Actually, I don't think I would like it if SGW followed the series that closely... it'd feel more like a cinematic game than an open mmo. I'm mostly just looking forward to playing in this particular "universe" with its fantastic lore.

As for instances... I have seen them getting bashed a lot over at AoC but they actually work very well. I have seen them shine at lower level zones. Whereas most MMO's I have played, the "newb zones" were overpopulated constantly and everyone is scrambling to get a kill. I feel it is much better to just instance the start, let people learn the game with a focused mission, and that's it. No 10 people camping the same 'rat.' Plus if you instance the 'newb zone' it is easier to code secondary characters to just bypass it so you ever only do it once.

As long as the open/main areas aren't instanced, I don't see any issues with it.

Agreed, keep instances for some quests, epic group quests, and new player areas. The main areas and open areas should never be instanced, it really takes away the feeling of the massive multiplayer and leaves it feeling as being just online. Don't think we have to worry about it being instanced to that extent, as I remember from a interview the amount of instancing of the game is supposed to be somewhere around 10%.
