So in one of the interviews they mentioned Instances. What can we expect? I'm thinking that there should be some based on some of SG-1's greatest trials on missions like Thor's hammer, some sort of Labyrinth in which you're final boss is one buffed up Unas. Ya that's the only one I could think of through my anger haze, btw if you're ever a manager working alongside another manager always ALWAYS get their input before just making a decision that effects not only the both of you but your subordinates as well.
Actually, I don't think I would like it if SGW followed the series that closely... it'd feel more like a cinematic game than an open mmo. I'm mostly just looking forward to playing in this particular "universe" with its fantastic lore.
As for instances... I have seen them getting bashed a lot over at AoC but they actually work very well. I have seen them shine at lower level zones. Whereas most MMO's I have played, the "newb zones" were overpopulated constantly and everyone is scrambling to get a kill. I feel it is much better to just instance the start, let people learn the game with a focused mission, and that's it. No 10 people camping the same 'rat.' Plus if you instance the 'newb zone' it is easier to code secondary characters to just bypass it so you ever only do it once.
As long as the open/main areas aren't instanced, I don't see any issues with it.
