Hiya Everyone..
I was scouring the net this week after hearing about the up coming 'Stargate Universe' series which is set to be the third of the stargate frachises and is apparently in the writing phase, as it was set back due to the 2 new SG1 films being brought out this year...
Was wondering if anyone heard any news, rumours general stuff about the new series??? Characters, location, theme, connections to older series...etc
E.g
The writers have said that the series will make use of the 9th Chevron on the gate, which until now has been a mystery.. the 8th added a extra distance calculation to the gate, so what does the 9th do..... oooh Intrigue!!!

All I have heard was just rumors also...
As far as the 9th Chevron I hoping for 2 reasons for it...
The first is we all know that a long time ago there was an alliance with four races, asgard, ancients, nox and furlings. The only race we have not seen yet is the furlings (I believe..correct me if I am wrong)Hopefully the 9th is for there address to there side of the universe.
The second just another address to more networking of gates.
I hope it is not time travel or parallel dimension or something like that...

I read an article from the series runner last year. They said they wouldstart writing out the series bible after completing the 1st movie. The 1st movie was completed last month. So they are on schedule.

Well when Jack traveled to the Asgard to get his head set right the first time they used an unknown 8th chevron and Sam explained that it acts as another distance modifier so more than likely it is just to travel even farther in the gate network and hopefully to meet the fourth race as was mentioned earlier. We shall see though.

Oh i didnt think of that, i really hope we get to meet the furlings, they are the only one of the 4 main Races which the SG teams havent met yet... That would be very cool indeed...

from the sounds of it, its gonna be pretty different from the other 2 series. i dont think any of us would be able to guess what the 9th chevron does until we see it in the show

I have a feeling the stargate doesn't just lead to other worlds/galaxy's. Although we've seen the Gate glitch and send travelers through time, but could a group of people have used the gate to travel to another plan of existence? Remember DS9 and beings in the wormhole? What if the new team runs across a situation like that in the new series?
Not that I think the series is based on this concept... but it's a good concept for meeting the furlings or some other Ancient like alli/enemy.
